Ninja Training: Upgrades is a unique program that combines yoga, meditation, and the flow arts.
Participants learn how to use a variety of Ninja props such as staves, poi, fans, ropedarts, and swords, alongside a variety of poses and techniques to focus their minds and strengthen their bodies.
Through these methods we induce a mindset of sustained focus, and effortless movement - the Flow State. In this state it becomes easier to learn, perform, and express oneself.
We give participants the means and tools to regularly achieve this flow state, to become proficient performers, and to maintain their minds and bodies in a state of empowered and active wellbeing.
We add an additional level of training by introducing program participants to fire performance - adding an element of challenge and ritual to the prior training.
Throughout the sessions we demonstrate the values and life skills of persistence, experimental play, embracing failure, encouragement,
This program can be tailored to any audience. We are currently teaching in eight Dunedin schools, through three community care providers, and with a range of community groups.
We would like to extend a huge thanks to the Otago Community Trust and the Dunedin City Council for contributing to the funding of our efforts throughout 2019.
